The GA Band Program

Guardian Angels is proud to have the longest running band program within the Archdiocese.  

5th Grade 

Students in the fifth grade may fulfill their music requirement by taking Beginning Band. They will learn basic fundamentals of playing a band instrument, reading music notation, and will perform at the Christmas and Spring Concerts.

 

GA Band

Students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade may fulfill their music requirement by taking band classes and performing with the GA Band. They will continue to develop their instrumental playing technique and play concert band repertoire as a group. GA Band performs at the Christmas and Spring Concerts.

 

GA Jazz Band -  Thursdays 2:45-4:00

6-8 grade band students are welcome and encouraged to participate in GA JAZZ BAND. This volunteer group will have the opportunity to play jazz, pop, rock, and movie themes, and will perform at school concerts and assemblies.

 

Percussion Ensemble – Tuesdays 2:45-3:30

Percussionists in grades 5-8 are encouraged to participate in percussion ensemble. This is a great way to improve your skills and have fun playing music for only percussion instruments!

 

Auditioned Groups

Band students are encouraged to represent Guardian Angels School in state and local honor bands such as OMEA District 14 Junior High Honor Band, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Catholic Schools Honor Band.

 

Private Lessons

Private lessons are highly encouraged in addition to participation in band class at school, whether students need extra help or are looking for more challenge. Private lesson instructors are professionally trained on their instruments and can focus on each student’s individual needs, resulting in greater improvement and increased enjoyment of music.

 

Private lessons are also a great motivator for kids to practice! Private lesson scheduling and fees are arranged between the instructor and the student’s family.

Choral Program
Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades may fulfill their music requirement by taking chorus classes and performing with the GA Chorus. The group performs at the Christmas concert and the Spring concert. 
 
Theater Program
Annual Musical, Grades K-4
Guardian Angels partners with Performing Arts Inc. to put on an annual musical for students that are in Kindergarten – 4th grade. The program is entirely voluntary and practices take place after school. 
 
Spring Musical, Grades 5-8
Guardian Angels School presents a musical each year. The program is entirely after school and voluntary. Students in grades 5-8 may participate. Some Spring Musicals may offer small parts for grades K-4.
 
Music Boosters                   
Parent volunteers began the Music Boosters in 1995 to generate funds for school owned instruments and equipment. This group also supports music productions by volunteering during shows throughout the year.
