Lil’ Angels Athletics
Lil’ Angels Athletics is a program offered by GA Athletic Boosters to girls in grades K-2. The Boosters will organize two 6-8 week after-school programs, one in the fall and one in the spring. Lil’ Angels Athletics will be run by parent volunteers. The Children will be placed in “teams” with 2 parent volunteers per “team” based on grade level. Parent volunteers will be assigned a 1- 1.5 hr gym time after school from approximately to run their “practices.” The program will expose the children to many different sports with basketball and volleyball being the main emphasis of the program. Each “season” will be the discretion of the parent volunteer with a general guideline that the parent volunteer expose the children to the sports offered to girls by GA Boosters beginning in 3rd grade (basketball, volleyball, softball and track/field). The program takes place on GA property outside and/or in the gym. A small fee $25 would be charged to each participant. Each parent volunteer must complete the VIRTUS training provided by the Archdiocese.
These are the goals of the program:
1. To offer girls in grades K, 1 & 2 the opportunity to interact with their friends in an extracurricular environment.
2. To introduce different sports to the girls in a casual atmosphere and gain interest for the CYO programs offered beginning in 3rd grade.
3. To expand the mission of the GA Boosters which is:
–Offer programs that will provide all students with a positive athletic experience, teach the fundamentals of the chosen sport, and prepare competitive athletes for high school athletics.
–Stress the modeling and teaching of not only good sportsmanship, but also the Christian values of respect, generosity, honesty and fairness.
–Provide the necessary facilities and equipment through fees and fundraising activities.
